Philip Joseph Howard, Jr

Philip Joseph Howard, Jr., 66, of 624 Canterbury Road, husband of Ann Dunagan Howard, died Monday, January 8, 2007 at his residence. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Philip J. and Lorice Dow Howard. Mr. Howard formerly owned and operated Howard?s Package Store and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. He coached several sports for 10 years in the South Greenville Youth Association and loved fishing, hunting and golf. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 41 years, are a daughter and son-in-law, Danielle H. and Carl Smothers of Piedmont; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Philip J. Howard, III of Piedmont, Joey M. and Julie Howard of Easley; and four grandchildren, Austin and Kaitlyn Smothers, and Calla and Trenton Howard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 111 Hampton Avenue, Greenville, SC 29601 or St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital, 322 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105. A Vigil service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Noon at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence.
