Ralph F. McKinney

Ralph Frank McKinney, 83, of 14 Fenwick Lane went to his Heavenly home, Saturday, July 19, 2008. Born in Greenville County, he was the loving husband of Elizabeth Greene Bolick McKinney and a son of the late John Avery and Cornelia Webster McKinney. Mr. McKinney was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Marines, where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart. He was retired after 50 years of service from J.P. Stevens – Monaghan Plant, and then became a Part-time Associate with Wal-mart for 10 years. Mr. McKinney was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church where he served in many capacities in the church including a long time member of the Adult Choir. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, he loved everyone he met. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Sandy Nihart of Easley, Linda McKinney of Greensboro, NC; a son, Gary Wayne McKinney and wife, Elizabeth, of North Carolina; a step-daughter, Beverly DeBoe of Greenville; a step-son, Brian Bolick and wife, Vicki of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Jim of Stanton, VA; four brothers, John A McKinney, Jr. and wife, Georgene, of Anderson, CA, William Bill McKinney and wife, Doris of Greenville, Kenneth E. McKinney and wife, Jo, of Pensacola, FL, Clyde A. McKinney and wife, Sylvia of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Marie McKinney and Norma Jean McKinney both of Greenville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. McKinney was predeceased by his first wife, Dora Shelton McKinney; five brothers, Charles "Rock" McKinney, Reverend Lewis McKinney, Robert Ford McKinney, Douglas McKinney, Joseph McKinney; three sisters, Mozelle Medlin, Blake Smith and Dorothy "Dot" Shelton; a son-in-law, Gary Nihart. Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm, Monday, July 21, 2008 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:30-3:00 pm, Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monaghan Baptist Church, 1500 West Parker Road, Greenville, SC 29617. The family will be at the residence.
