Ralph Hershal Heaton

Ralph H. "Shorty" Heaton, 94, of 4975 Sandy Flat Road, widower of Maude Lee Heaton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2008. Born in Waycross, GA, he was a son of the late Porter R. and Margaret Clardy Heaton. Mr. Heaton was the owner of H&H Homebuilders and was a member of Faith Temple. He played in the textile leagues with Shoeless Joe Jackson. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Howard and her husband, Clyde, of Taylors, Barbara H. Greene of the home; a sister, Nell Lucky of Evergreen, AL; six grandchildren, Reverend Butch Howard of Taylors, Dan Howard of Shelby, NC, Angie Alford of Taylors, Tim Howard of Greer, Mike Greene of Taylors, Scott Greene of Taylors; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. A special thanks to Mr. Thomas Greene for his devoted care. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 16 Hyland Road, Greenville, SC 29615. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Faith Temple.
