My condolences to the Smith family, Ralph was a great friend and an excellent example of a Christian man. I remember all the good times spent with him, just talking about stuff.  Living 85yrs and one day is just like the engineer that he was.  Our loss is heaven’s gain.  You all are in our prayers. Well done, Ralph.

I learned alot about telecommunications from Ralph when I worked with him at Georgia Power. After he retired, I enjoyed our conversations at the annual Telecomm Reunion lunch. He was a good friend and mentor to me and I will miss him. May his family take comfort in knowing that another angel is watching over them.

I worked with Ralph at Georgia Power Company and Southern Company from 1972 till he retired. He was a Great man and helped everyone around him. I, as well as many others have missed him since his retirement and were glad to have him come back for our retirees meetings once a year at Forest Park Ga. My Prayers are with the family. I met Ralph at Bon Secours Rehab. We bonded together very quickly when he found out I also graduated from Georgia Tech. I thought he was treating me special until I saw him greet the next new person.. He never met as stranger and people loved that about him. We would walk the track and he would tell me about mission trips and his time at Tech.. I was fascinated. Since his strength wend down we would talk on the phone each week--I truly will miss this Godly Man In my mind he is sitting on a bench in Heaven telling stories to Coach Bobby Dodd. And that makes me smile--- talking to nCoac
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

My deep condolences to those who remain behind. In the late 1950s, Ralph temporarily replaced my dad for a year as the chief electrical engineer at the missionary radio station 4VEH in Haiti, Grande Antilles. That allowed Mardy Picazo and his family to spend time with family and to visit many congregations across the eastern USA describing the work that was being done with Christian radio broadcasting. Many years later, one afternoon in 2017, I believe, I met with Ralph at the Simpsonville, SC, Starbucks and we compared notes. There is so much more to each person's story than ever makes it into an obituary, and Ralph Smith is a good example of that. From my family, who were directly and positively affected by Ralph's volunteered time so many years ago, we offer a deep thank you. Esteban Picazo, for the Picazo Family USA
