Ralph Steele Black

September 23, 1935 - March 1, 2008
Ralph Steele Black, 72, of 424 Moody Lane, Piedmont, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at his residence. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Thomas Black, Jr. and Eunice Hopkins Black. Prior to his retirement, he was a supervisor with Carolina Plating. He was a member of Piedmont Church of God, where he also served as clerk. Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Tucker Black; daughter, Angel Black Stinnett of Anderson; two sons, Bill Black of the home and Ralph E. Black of Piedmont; two granddaughters that live in the home, Casey and Tamia Black; eight additional grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Roy Black of Anderson, Jimmy Black of Piedmont, Johnny Black of Greer, and Charles Black of Williamston. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracie Darlene Wofford, and a sister, Jane Gaffney. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to family and friends of Piedmont Church of God and Winyah Hospice during Mr. Black's illness. Visitation will be held Monday from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, with interment following in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
