Raymond Elias Karam

Raymond Elias Karam, 65, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, he was the son of the late Elias Y. and Louisa Munayer Karam and husband of the late Philomene Hannouche Karam. Ray, an immigrant from Jerusalem, came to America in 1955 at the age of thirteen with his family. Settling in Cleveland, OH, he was educated there and joined the U.S. Navy. He worked for Union Carbine in Cleveland and came to Greenville in 1973. In December 1973, Ray and his brother-in-law Kamal Armaly formed EEEA, Inc., an industrial manufacturing company and remained active with the company until his health failed earlier this year. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Ray was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Andrew K. Gwynn, Council 1668 and past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Assembly 1073. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Helen Karam of Banner Elk, NC and Christine Monique Karam of Simpsonville; a granddaughter, Krystal Karam of Banner Elk, NC; a sister, Helen Fischer of Simpsonville; and a brother, Emmanuel Karam of Las Vegas, NV. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be Monday, December 17, 2007 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
