Rhoda Belle Hodge Davis, 86, went to her final home April 24, 2024, that her Heavenly
Father had prepared just for her, as HE promised.
She fought a valiant battle with Dedifferentiated Chondrosarcoma; one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. Neither chemotherapy nor radiation could touch it, but she did not give up; she fought back. She had her left arm amputated with the hope of ridding her frail body of that wicked ailment, however on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, we found out that the cancer had spread to her lungs; that is when she succumbed to her ailment and our Lord and Savior called her home. We feel sure that HE said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” HE is ALWAYS right on time.
Born in Manning, SC, she was the daughter of the late Richard Levant and Lou Belle Hodge. She was their only child. Her mother Lou Belle died three days after giving birth to her. Rhoda was raised by her grandmother and father, until her father married Pauline Geddings Hodge.
She graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1955. She regularly attended her high school reunions.
She was married to John William Davis, Sr. for 43 years before our Heavenly Father called him home in 2001. He was the love of her life.
They were faithful members of Tabernacle Baptist Church after joining the church in 1982. There she remained until being called home.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Young, Arlene Davis, and son, John Davis Jr. (Teresa). She was also the grandmother to Tony Moore (Keshia), Will (Janna), Jennifer, Shannon, and Abbey. She had five great-grandchildren. She also had a special neighbor, Jimmy, who tried to look after her when she would allow it.
She was loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at
Tabernacle Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, in her honor, may be made to: Tabernacle Children’s Home, 3931 White Horse Rd. Greenville, SC 29611.
