Richard Curtis VanderWood left this world on March 9, 2024, at the age of 39 due to injuries from an automobile accident. Born on August 13, 1984, in Greenville, SC, Richard was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard had a huge, sensitive heart and a love of history. When it came to electrical diagrams and technology, Richard was a savant. He worked for Kasted in Greenville and supervised projects for a number of their major clients. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Kerry Penwell for believing in Richard. They will be forever grateful for the outpouring of the support of friends in the community during this tragic time. Richard’s legacy will live on in others through the priceless gift of organ donation.
Richard is survived by his loving parents, Joel and Wendy VanderWood; brother, Matty VanderWood, his sister-in-law, Lauren, and niece, Lily, and brother, Brad VanderWood; many aunts and uncles, as well as 17 cousins. His warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He adored his black Lab, Bentley.
The family will receive friends on March 15, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown.
