Robert “Bob” Brent Swan, 82, of Duncan, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 with his family by his side.
Bob was born on March 14, 1942 to James and Maxine Swan in Lafayette, Indiana. After Bob graduated from high school he enlisted into the Army Reserves and served eight years as a military police officer. After bootcamp, Bob went to the University of Florida to pursue a degree in journalism.
After graduation he started his first job at Prudential Life Insurance Company in Miami, Florida, kick starting a 35 year career in insurance.
In 2003 Bob retired from a long career in insurance but was not ready to “be retired”. He went on to have an 18 year career in Anderson Twp., Ohio with Forest Hills School District, as well as part-time jobs with Hamilton County Park District and Buckle-Up Driving School. Bob did not retire even when moving to South Carolina. He worked at Jump Start After School Camp, America’s Auto Auction, United States Postal Service, and Ingles Market. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, cheering for the Florida Gators, walking the dogs, Gabby and Zuzu, and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Pamelia Swan, his two sons, Brent Swan, and J. Austin Swan and wife, Lindsay, his daughter J. Madison Sorrell and husband, Mason; his granddaughter, Audrey Swan; his brother, Neil M. Swan, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Bob’s family and friends are invited to a time of sharing memories and fellowship from 3:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast.
