Robert Christopher Whitmire, Sr

Robert ?Bob? Christopher Whitmire, Sr., 84, husband of Helen Louise Dickert Whitmire, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at his residence. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Elsker and Molly Mitchell Whitmire. Mr. Whitmire was a retired installer with Southern Bell Telephone and a member of Piedmont Park United Methodist. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Linda W. Mauldin and husband John of Greer; a son, Robert C. ?Chris? Whitmire, Jr. and wife Pat of Greenville; a sister, Norma Jean W. Whitworth of Ringold, GA; and two grandchildren, Lindsay Farmer Gunalda and husband Josh of Asheville, NC and Jason Michael Farmer and wife Carroll of Greenville; four great grandchildren, Frances Whitmire Farmer, Robert Roe Farmer, Patrick Michael Farmer, and Ellis McComb Farmer. He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters. Memorials may be sent to Piedmont Park United Methodist Church, 1100 Piedmont Park Rd., Taylors, SC 29687 or Interim Healthcare Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
