Robert Dewey Butler, Sr

Robert Dewey Butler, Sr., 79, of 3037 Tigerville Road, died Monday, May 28, 2007. Born in Travelers Rest he was a son of Viola Pearson Butler and the late G.D. Butler. Mr. Butler graduated from Mt. View High School Class of 1944 and also attended Furman University. He retired from McRey Distributors in Spartanburg, SC. He was a lifelong member of Locust Hill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School secretary, tellers committee member, and a Sanctuary choir member. Mr. Butler was a longtime member of Clemson IPTAY. Surviving are his loving wife of sixty years, Nancy Hammond Butler, of the home; two daughters, Debby B. Plumblee, and Delores B. Stansell and husband Mike, of Travelers Rest; two sons, Bob Butler and wife Janice, and Lee Butler and wife Tee Lena, of Travelers Rest; seven grandchildren, Tracy B. Edge, Bo Butler, Tommy Plumblee, Leesa Plumblee, Tosha S. Webb, Allen Newton, and Crystal Newton; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Plumblee; and two brothers, First Lt. George W. Butler and The Reverend Capt. Charles Butler. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 ? 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be Saturday at Locust Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Locust Hill Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 5534 Locust Hill Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690. The family is at the residence.
