Robert J.T. Styles

March 17, 1926 - August 30, 2006
J.T. Styles, 80, of 16 Tolar Road, husband of Ruth Goldsmith Styles, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at his residence. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Jasper Thuron and Mary Frances Messer Styles. Mr. Styles was retired from Bell South and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and former custodian. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Communication Workers of America, and was a United States Army Veteran having served during WWII. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Miriam S. and Bobby Youngblood of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Elaine Styles of Greenville; six grandchildren, Brett, Matthew and Beth Youngblood, Shelley, Sherilyn, and Stefan Styles; eight sisters, Evelyn Jones, Margaret Davenport, Elizabeth Foster, Diamond Bradshaw, Doris Styles, Mildred McQueen, Carol Knight, and Julia Owens; three brothers, Earl, Charles, and Darol Styles. J.T. loved his family and church and always helped others. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 28 Ebenezer Church Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690. Visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
