Robert L. Cass, Sr., 85, of 1102 Wenwood Circle, widower of Ruth Heileman Cass, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Sommerville, MA, he was a son of the late William J. and Gertrude Goddard Cass. Mr. Cass was retired from Cryovac and was a United States Navy veteran. Surviving are three daughters, Carol Patterson and her husband, Jack, of Charlotte, Peggy Wyatt and her husband, David, of Charlotte, Dorothy Phillips and her husband, Michael, of Greenville; three sons, Robert L. "Lenny" Cass, Jr. and his wife, Renée, of Greenville, David Cass of Greenville, Kevin Cass of Simpsonville; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Madden and Rita Marsh both of Massachusetts; and a brother, William "Bill" J. Cass of Cincinnati, OH. Memorials may be made to the Greenville County Cancer Society, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605 or Belmont Fire Department Volunteers, 701 Fork Shoals Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of a son, Robert L. Cass, Jr., 606 Churchill Circle, Greenville.
