Robert Neil McWhite, 60, devoted husband of Sally Few McWhite, suddenly passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of Martha Ashley McWhite and the late John Lewis McWhite.

Neil dedicated his career as a Financial Advisor, recently receiving his CFP, sharing his knowledge and expertise to help others secure their futures. He was a valued member of the Edward Jones family, where he made a lasting impact and built relationships that extended beyond the professional realm. His commitment to his career was paralleled only by his love for his family.

Neil and Sally met as classmates in middle and high school. It wasn’t until after Neil graduated from Clemson University that their friendship grew into a strong and loving marriage that they treasured for over 33 years. Together they often enjoyed time spent at Lake Keowee and Edisto Beach, traveling abroad, attending Clemson athletic activities, and spending time with their families.

His honesty and dedication shone through in all his endeavors, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and compassion, touching the lives of many with his kind and caring nature. Neil was a dedicated member of Aldersgate United Methodist, where he attended The Good News Sunday School Class. He was a man of deep faith and integrity, who cherished his family above all else.

His legacy will continue on in the hearts of his mother, Martha; his loving wife, Sally; two precious sons, Keith Daniel McWhite and wife, Molly of Trussville, AL, and Collin Lewis McWhite and fiancé, Veronica Odette of Ashville, NC; two adoring grandchildren, Ellie Gray and Robert Hayes McWhite; sister, Nancy Concannon and husband, Doug; brother, John Lewis McWhite and wife, Angela; step-siblings, John Evans McWhite and wife, Daphne, Mary Carter, Nancy Tackett and husband, Tim, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Benson C. McWhite and stepbrothers, Tom McWhite and Bill McWhite.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by the Reverend Michael Bingham. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.

Dearest Martha, Sally, Keith, Colin, John, and Nancy, I am so sad for the loss of my sweet cousin, Neil. I have so many fond memories of him from his birth to the present. It deeply saddens me to hear of Neil’s passing. He served my mother and myself for many years. I am so happy to know he knew our Lord intimately and that he will spend eternity with him in complete Love, and Peace. My prayers go out to the family. My most heartfelt condolences go out to the McWhite family. I worked with Neil at Orders Distributing in the credit department, and thought Neil was one of the best coworkers ever. Sally was my dental hygienist for a number of years and it breaks my heart for Sally and the boys. The family is in my prayers and thoughts, as you go through this difficult time.

Sally and sons, I was very saddened to hear of Neil's passing. We of course worked together at Orders Distributing and became friends over 30 years ago. That friendship has lasted for decades and I will miss him. I'll always remember Neil as one of the nicest , best friends in my life. Truly one of the "good guys."

Martha and Sally, our entire family was so sad to hear the news of the death of Neil. We know how it is to lose a son, a brother a dear uncle. We were privileged to know Neil as he grew up in our church family and now cherish the memory of talking to him Easter Sunday. He will live on in your hearts. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I did not know Neal very well, but would run across him in youth sports many times and we always had great conversations. Great guy I know he will be missed as a dad and husband. My sincerest condolences.

What will you miss most about Robert Neil? Any opportunity spent with Neil was positive regardless of age, location, situation… and looking back, it was timeless memories that despite the span of time between those opportunities, a week, a year… it didn’t matter. You knew that the bond of family was so genuine, it seemed as fleeting as a moment before that next conversation would pick right back up with smiles, sharing love of family or a heartfelt concern that was shared in love. Those opportunities came easily and honestly. Why? Jesus Christ. He first loved us. He did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. That’s love. But it’s not love unless it’s given away! Neil got that trait honestly. What a family tree! What great family reunions! That pales when compared with the hope we have in Christ. Neil’s experiencing life as only GOD can imagine. Yes, we’ll miss Neil. But, I believe Neil would rather anyone reading about what some of us will miss most about Robert Neil McWhite would understand this: Those who know GOD’s son, Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord - that “missing” feeling is for just a little while. Experiencing life as only GOD can imagine - that’s forever. Of most importance, as you read these words, if YOU don’t know GOD’s son as Savior and Lord, PLEASE consider taking seriously what the Apostle Paul led by the Holy Spirit says in Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that GOD raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

I had the privilege to work with Neil in credit at Exopack and later became a client at Edward Jones. He was a positive influence on a lot of people and will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers are with the family.
