Robert V. Kirkland, 56, of 117 Wallingford Road, husband of Teri Connelly Kirkland, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at his residence. Born in Saluda County, S.C., he was the son of Reba Witt Wright and the late Virgil A. Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland held a Masters Degree in Horticulture and enjoyed working with his flowers and in his yard. He was employed with Liberty Life/RBC Insurance for 36 years and held numerous management positions. He was of the Lutheran faith and a Mason. Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, a step father, Ronny Wright; two sisters, Rita Kirkland McKay of Trenton, S.C., and Janice Kirkland Rowe and her husband, Eddie, of Saluda, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel.
