Roland Tallarico, affectionately known as Bud, Buddy, Rolz and Jingles, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015, in Greenville, SC. Born in Farrell, Pennsylvania on January 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Mary and Serafine Tallarico. After attending high school in Farrell, Bud joined the Navy so he could "travel to the warm waters of the Mediterranean", but he ended up spending most of his time on the cold coast of the U.S. Northeast. Bud earned a degree in Chemistry from Westminster College and spent time working in the Midwest where he met his lovely wife, Louise "Lou", to which he was married for 48 years. His deep dislike for cold weather motivated him to move his family to South Carolina in anticipation of retirement. The Italian saying of 'Dolce far Niente' or the Sweetness of Doing Nothing was in his blood, and he enjoyed retirement to the fullest. Bud thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, golfing, and of course cooking and eating great food! In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by his two sons, Robert and Douglas; two daughters, Deborah and Susan; sister, Vonnie; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, and Poppy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry, and sister, Ann. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from noon until 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Cremains to be buried at the Monastery of St. Clare. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic School, 309 Gower St., Greenville, SC 29611; Heartland Hospice, 421 S.E.
