Roy Daniel Black, 77, beloved husband of Carol Black, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Roy and Helen Barbare Black.
Roy was fondly known as “Cadillac Black” for his unparalleled skills in auto sales. Cadillac worked for many of the big dealerships in the upstate and was well known and loved in the car world. He made a lasting impact on all who knew him, not just through his role as a used car manager but also as a faithful member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church. He played bass guitar at church for 23 years. His infectious charisma and ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Roy’s family was the center of his world, and he found immense joy and pride in witnessing the growth and achievements of his children and grandchildren. He and Carol shared a beautiful marriage of almost 60 years. They would have celebrated this remarkable milestone in January. He also had a special adoration for his pet, Rocky, who was loved and spoiled tremendously.
His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He was known for his jokes and loved to go out of his way to make people smile. Though his physical presence may no longer grace this earth, his spirit will forever linger in the cherished memories and stories he leaves behind.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Danette (Jerry) Brown, and Britt (Sammy) Kay; son, Daniel (Angi) Black Jr; grandchildren, A.J. Brown, Kaylee Lister, Alexis Brown, Alyssa Brown, Hayleigh Daniels, Daniel Black III, Reilly Kay, Sam Kay, and Reid Kay; great grandchildren, Braylee, Pearcely, Norah, Thatcher, Latham, Baker; and sister, Dee Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Turner, Pauline Noe, and Linda Jordan; and brother, Charles Black.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. at Truth Missionary Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Truth Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Saluda Dam Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
