Ruby Godfrey Smith

Ruby Lee Godfrey Smith, 84, a resident of Blue Ridge Nursing Center and a former resident of 18 Seyle St., Dunean, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Easley. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late James Olen and Nannie Cooper Godfrey and widow of Elmer Smith. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Welcome High School and member of Dunean Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, she was a machine operator with J.P. Stevens & Co., Parker Plant. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia Lynn and Talmadge Evans, of Greenville; her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Joan Smith, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Lisa Snyder and husband Tim, Bruce Smith, Nikki McJunkin and husband Stanley, Becky Ricks and husband Greg, and Rusty Evans; six great-grandchildren, Marshall and Macy Snyder, Shawna and Stephanie McJunkin, and Gregory and Evan Ricks; and her sister, Frances Duncan, of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, with the Rev. Calvin Holland and Rev. Tim Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon until 1:15 pm. Interment to follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.
