Ruby Hawkins Mullinax, 88, of 604 Berea Drive, left to be with her Lord on Christmas Day, 2005. Born on February 12, 1917, she was a daughter of the late George Washington Hawkins, Jr. and Mamie Wynn Hawkins and wife of the late Buzzie Lee Mullinax to whom she was married for forty-three years. Mrs. Mullinax was a graduate of Anderson College. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Southern Bell Pioneers. She later worked as a bookkeeper for her husband?s pharmacy, Mullinax Drug Store. She was a life-long member of Berea First Baptist Church where she served in many capacities throughout the years and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a woman of great faith who, throughout her life, gave tirelessly of herself to others. She loved people, her Lord, her church and her family. Her zest for living and lively sense of humor, in good times and bad, are part of the legacy she leaves for those who knew her. She never met a stranger. She will be missed, but her loving spirit will be with us always. Mrs. Mullinax is survived by two daughters and one son, Elizabeth M. Perry, Mary M. Smith wife of Kenneth Smith, and Barry L. Mullinax husband of Donna Mullinax, all of Greenville; six grandchildren, Garrick R. Perry, Greg L. Perry, Jennifer A. Smith, Lauren N. Mullinax, Tracy S. Mullinax, and K. Alex Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline F. Perry and H. Elise Perry. She is predeceased by two sisters, Janie Dolly Wells and her twin, Ruth Williams; and three brothers, G.W. Hawkins, Charles A. Hawkins, and Eugene Hawkins. Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon ? 1:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service will be Greg Huff, Bobby Wells, Billy Hendrix, James Blakely, James Day and Harold Batson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
