Ruby Leapard Woods

Ruby Leapard Woods, 93, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. A lifelong resident of Greenville, Ruby was born on September 28, 1914. She was the daughter of Clarence David Leapard and Izora Leapard Reid. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dee Woods and a sister, Jamie Lawson of Simpsonville. She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church and taught kindergarten in the Greenville County School System until retirement in 1980. She has lived at Rolling Green Village for the past 20 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joe Jane Lackey of Marietta, GA and Mrs. Cleon Anne Reece of Greensboro, NC; three granddaughters, Mrs. Julie Ryan of Canton, GA, Mrs. Angie Roberts of Powder Springs, GA, Mrs. Cameron Calton of Huntersville, NC; a grandson, Larry Reece of Charlotte, NC; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Clara Leapard of Simpsonville and Mrs. Lila Leapard Adams of Raleigh, NC. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church, 2331 Laurens Road, Greenville, SC 29607 or Moses Cone Hospital, 1200 N.
