Ruth Davis Blackston, 78, wife of Clifton Blackston, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Grace Nix Davis.

Mrs. Blackston worked for over 30 years in the retail field with Ivey’s and Dillard’s as a leading sales associate. She loved to arrange flowers and interior decorating.

Surviving are her children, Karen Blackston Anderson and husband, Clifford, of Louisville, KY, Dr. Barry Blackston and wife, Maree, and Kevin Blackston and wife, Lisa, of Greenville;
grandchildren, Kyle Anderson, Mayden Blackston, Kaitlin Wyatt, and Scottie Blackston; siblings, Ruby Albertson, and Gary Davis and wife, Theairl, all of Easley. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Weldon Albertson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at 107 Benwood Drive, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

I'm so sorry to hear about 'Mama Ruth'. My favorite memory of her is of course at our New Years party Dec 2001. She held Ben, our 5 month old son for most of the evening and she loved doing it! Ben loved her too, as did Anna, our daughter. Mama Ruth was very kind and had a gentle soul. My family will miss her dearly.Melissa Solesbee
