Ruth Gail Watson

February 29, 1940 - October 6, 2006
Ruth Gail Blair Watson, 66, wife of Joe Harold Watson passed away peacefully on October 6, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Her 35 year journey with this disease touched and inspired all that knew her. Born and raised in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late James Gordon and Vera Viola Silver Blair. Mrs. Watson spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was strongly rooted in her Christian faith. She was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church. In addition to her loving husband of 47 years, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Watson and Pamela Dematteo of Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law Mike Dematteo; three beautiful grandchildren, Austin Kramer, Dara Dematteo and Inessa Watson; a sister Shirley Merritt, and a brother Jerry Blair, both of Greenville. Visitation will be on held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 from 12:00 until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown chapel. Entombment will follow in Woodlawm Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Multiple Sclerosis of South Carolina, 2712 Middleburg Drive, Suite 220, Columbia, SC 29204.
