Ruth Mize Strong

Ruth Mize Strong, 85, of 120 Wendfield Drive, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Wade J. and Mary Lucinda Edgar Mize. Mrs. Strong was retired from Dan River Wunda Weave. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Seneca and attended Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Few and her husband James of Easley; two sons, James Wade Strong, Sr. and his wife Cathy of Travelers Rest, James H. Strong of Greenville; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pauline Roach Strong. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritans Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to the building fund of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church, 19 Sidney Street, Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2006 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 1:30 pm at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Seneca. The family will be at the home of a grandson, James W. Strong, Jr., 120 Wendfield Drive, Travelers Rest.
