Sally Virgin Zabel

Sally Fern Virgin Zabel, wife of the late John H. Zabel, Jr., passed away peacefully at home in the company of her family on January 21, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Lafayette Virgin and the late Carrie Morrow Virgin of Tunas, Missouri. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and delighted in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Zabel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and formerly a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She is survived by her eight children: John H. Zabel III and spouse Bridget Dunn Zabel of Tega Cay, S.C.; Mary Zabel Cassabon and spouse Michael Cassabon of Simpsonville, S.C.; Thomas J. Zabel and spouse Patricia Dennis Zabel of Greenville, S.C.; Barbara Zabel Wefferling of Lopez Island, WA.; James R. Zabel of Simpsonville, S.C.; Michael A. Zabel of Greenville, S.C.: Robert M. Zabel and spouse Lee Henriksen Zabel of Hingham, MA.; and Teresa Zabel Curtis and spouse Michael Curtis of Arlington, WA. She is also survived by her sister Carol Virgin Hill of Bedford, PA and sixteen grandchildren ranging in age from 8 to 32 years of age. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening, January 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home on Main Street in Greenville, S.C. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday, January 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Washington Street, Greenville.
