Sara Peay Gaston

March 29, 1916 - January 16, 2007
Sara Peay Gaston, 90 widow of Walter Clark Gaston, Sr., died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born in Ridgeway, S.C, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lamar and Eleanor DesPortes Peay. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Peay. Mrs. Gaston was a homemaker and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. In her earlier years, she was a member of The Garden Study Club, which was responsible for the planting of trees at the Cleveland Street YMCA. Her interest in gardening continued through her time at Brighton Gardens, where she was in the Grow and Show Garden Club. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Walter Clark and Mary Houston Gaston of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Jo and Bill Moore of Greenville; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many friends at Brighton Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 901 Easley Bridge Road, Greenville, SC 29611 or the charity of one?s choice. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Remembrance Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park, with visitation prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sara Jo and Bill Moore, 4 W. Seven Oaks Drive, Greenville. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
