Shelby Crowe Garrett, 84, wife of the late Herbert E Garrett, passed away peacefully in her home and into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Eula Streetman Crowe.
Shelby was employed by Wickes Lumber and Gaylord Container Corporation before retirement. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where she served as Vice President and Secretary of The Sisters in Christ Sunday School class whom she loved so much. Shelby enjoyed her Friday nights in fellowship and playing cards with her friends. She was truly the Matriarch of her family, she relished taking care of them and always put them first without a second thought. Her greatest joy was spending time with them; especially planning numerous family vacations to the mountains and the beach. Her loving heart and spirit will always be remembered, and her legacy will be carried on through her family.
She is survived by daughters Dena Toth (Scott) and Dyna Wactor (Robert); and a brother, Coy Crowe (Rosella); grandchildren, Caci Scroggs (Tyler), Garrett, Sarah, and Ian Toth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Ralph Wayne Hinton.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 08, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. The family appreciates those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on Social Distancing and Wearing a Mask. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West .
