Steve Donald Arledge, Sr., husband of Margaret "Peggy" Arledge, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Lynn, NC, he was the son of the late Earl Ray Panther and Carrie Collins Arledge Panther. Mr. Arledge graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in business administration. He was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church. Mr. Arledge served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class on the Pacific Theater. He retired from JP Stevens after 45 years of service in the textile industry. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Deborah Arledge Seyle of Black Mountain, NC, and Lynn Arledge Harrison of Greenville, SC; two sons, Steve Donald Arledge, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, and John Claude Arledge of Taylors, SC; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be Monday evening, November 17th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Augusta Road Baptist Church, 1823 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The family will be at the residence.
