Sybil Virginia Wakefield Cox

Sybil Virginia Wakefield Cox, 80, of 216 McMakin Drive, died on Saturday, July 8, 2006. Born in Greenville, she was the wife of Lawrence Dewey Cox, and a daughter of the late Guy Forest and Fannie McClure Wakefield. Mrs. Cox was a retired bookkeeper for Belk?s Department Store. She was a graduate of Draughon?s Business College. She was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Vicki Lynn Collins, and her husband, Jackie, of Simpsonville; a son, Leon Dewey Cox, and his wife, Karen, of Gastonia, NC; two grandchildren, Tammy Mason Hanson and her husband, Chad, and Kymberly Sutton Corcoran, and her husband, Sean; two great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church. The Reverends Rodney Jeanes, Sethie Hester and Gerald Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will be in Reedy River Baptist Church Cemetery.
