Talmadge Andrew Tollison, Sr

October 8, 1923 - January 30, 2008
Talmadge "Tamp" Andrew Tollison, Sr., 84, of 9 Hardwick Dr., Greenville passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at McCall Hospice House of Greenville. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Boyd Andrew and Nellie Griffith Tollison. Prior to his retirement, he was an insurance salesman for Liberty Life Insurance Company. Tamp was a lifetime member of Woodside United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed on the USS Patoka during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Tamp was a member of American Legion Post 199 and VFW Post 10330. Surviving are his granddaughter, Amanda Elizabeth Tollison Kuykendall; grandson, Russell Mark Tollison; two sisters, Mary Ellen White and Vera Watson; step-daughter, Betty Bridges; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Tamp was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Harper Tollison; his son, Talmadge Andrew Tollison, Jr; his four brothers, Jack, "Boots", "Bo", and Earl Tollison; and his step-daughter's mother. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, with visitation prior from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. Burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Woodside United Methodist Church, in care of Mary White, 17 W. 5th St., Woodside, Greenville, SC 29611 or Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.
