Thomas Christopher Whatley, of Greenville, SC, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 24. Born on July 7, 1999, he lived a life full of love for his children, his family, and his friends.
Growing up in Greenville and spending much time in his favorite place, Fripp Island, Thomas developed a passion for fishing and could always be found at his secret fishing spot on the golf course. He would definitely say that Fripp Island was his home away from home. Thomas was also known for his cooking skills and enjoyed making a good meal for his family. His passion for fishing, cooking, and time at the beach with family brought him such joy.
Thomas was a beloved son to Paige Jernigan Whatley and Christopher Whatley and a cherished brother to Collin and Katherine. His own children, Ivey Elizabeth and Hayes Christopher, were the light of his life along with his fiancé, Mackenzie Yeomans. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Kathy and Jim Jernigan who held a special place in his heart. His precious infant son, Drake Carter, and his paternal grandparents, Joanne Whatley and Robert Whatley, preceded Thomas in death.
His family, friends, and loved ones are invited to pay tribute to his life and share their memories and condolences with the family at the Memorial Service on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church, Greenville. The family will receive friends after the service in the narthex.
In Thomas’s honor, let us remember his love for the simple things in life, his humor and contagious laugh, and the profound impact he made on all those who were blessed to have him in their lives. Thomas was gentle and loving and will be dearly missed by us all.
