Thomas Walter Schankweiler of Taylors, SC, age 90, passed away November 1, 2007, after a long illness with Alzheimer?s. Tom, a native of Shamokin, PA, retired to Taylors, SC. in 1983 and is survived by his second wife Geraldine; his four children, Tom of Broomfield, CO., Lee of Shamokin, PA, Kathy vonPelet of Orlando, FL. and Judy Nicewonger of Jacksonville, FL.; and a step-daughter, Judy Cappuccio, Davie, FL.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Tom and Geraldine are members of the Taylors First Church of God, and previously the Lee Road Baptist Church, Taylors and the Nazarene Church on Haywood Road, Greenville. The family requests expressions of sympathy are made to Vista Care Hospice, 15 Brendan Way, Suite 100, Greenville, SC 29615. Visitation will be Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Sunday at1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel.
