Tim is survived by his loving wife of forty plus years, Sheila Lucille Cherry, their three children, Traci Lynn Nilsson, Brandon Todd Cherry, and Michael Ryan Cherry (Jennifer Richey); and four grandchildren, Katelyn Nicole Claesson, Lukas Pate Nilsson, Liam Oliver Nilsson and Isabella Diane Cherry. He is also survived by his two brothers, William D. Cherry and David N. Cherry in Louisville, Kentucky, and their families.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, William Clarence Cherry and his mother, Florence Pate Cherry.

Tim was a 1974 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in accounting and spent the majority of his 44 plus year professional career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed in Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia. He was a partner with Elliott Davis LLP and Cherry Bekaert LLP for approximately 32 years. He also served on various South Carolina Association of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs tax committees and taught numerous professional education classes for CPAs and attorneys.

Tim was a member of the Greenwood Rotary Club and the Aiken Rotary Club and served on numerous boards of directors for various educational and civic organizations throughout the state.

An avid golfer, quail hunter and outdoors man, Tim enjoyed God’s creations at every opportunity. Professionally, his clients quickly became his friends and his servant’s heart was easily recognized by his partners, associates, and friends.

His requests of his family are to celebrate his life, remembering the good times and finding something to laugh about frequently. He believed that grief is the price you pay for having loved, but that grief should be exceeded by the joy of having lived and shared.

A celebration of life in the church atrium will follow a service to be held Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian church.

I will miss Tim's dry wit, consistent kindness, generosity of spirit, and unwavering integrity. Truly good men are in short supply, and I'm so glad to have known such a good man. I'm so sorry for your family's loss.

Tim was a thoughtful husband and father who loved his family. He loved the work he did, the clients he got to work with and telling stories about the experiences that came from those relationships. One of Tim's only vices, was his passion for all things Kentucky! He enjoyed any opportunity to give you grief about your team choices, or to let you know about a recent Kentucky victory. Tim was a man of great integrity, expansive knowledge and an appreciation for his family and friends and the time he got to spend with them. Tim will be missed and my thoughts are with his family during this tough time. Tim just for you, GO CATS!

Todd, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Please know that you're still thought of often and are in my prayers.

My heart goes out to you and your family during this time.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend and colleague, Tim Cherry. I will particularly remember the tremendous faith, courage and maturity of perspective that Tim maintained throughout his illness. For me personally, he has set a very high bar of how I would only hope to behave in the face of such adversity. However, this only confirms our knowledge of who Tim was. While his professional accomplishments were indeed long and impressive, he never let those things inflate his understanding of who he was. He was a true gentleman in the very best sense. We will miss his wisdom, vast knowledge and keen intellect on our Board at Tietex and also at Interflex. Most of all I will miss the quiet conversations peppered with his sage advice and, of course, his joyful and sometimes dry sense of humor.
