Tom Slonneger, 75, of Birmingham, AL, husband of Brenda Slonneger, passed away September 3, 2021 after an extended illness.
Tom was born on June 5, 1946 in Huntington Park, CA to the late Mason and Mary Slonneger. He graduated from Sylmar High School, served his country as a member of the US Army, then studied Business at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
He was an avid camper and canoer who also enjoyed most forms of music – especially classic Rock ‘n Roll. Tom retired from AT&T after 37 years of service, and for many years, volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital Oncology Unit as well as the Catholic Community Outreach. Tom also served as Extraordinary Minister of Communion & as an Adorer at the Perpetual Adoration Chapei for 20 years.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Tom is survived by his sons, BJ Slonneger and Beau Slonneger; daughter, Erin Guess; six grandchildren, Will, Wyatt, Micah Beau, Dryver, Watson, and Mary Jane; one brother, Stephen Slonneger of Chino Valley, AZ; and two nieces, Jessica and Rachel.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. A private burial will be held in the MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Founders Place Respite Ministry at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Rd, Mountain Brook, AL 35213.
