Travis Dewey Waddell

April 24, 1932 - September 11, 2008
Travis Dewey Waddell, 76, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC after a period of declining health. He formerly resided with his daughter in Greenville, SC. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Travis and Willie Mae Suttles Waddell. Mr. Waddell was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Batson of Greenville; a son, Rick Waddell of Easley; and a grandson, Richard Scott Batson of Greenville. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Waddell; and three brothers, Willard, Gerald Keith and Alvin Waddell. Memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 15, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Waddell's daughter, Tammy Batson, would like to give special thanks to Scott Batson for his love and special care of his grandfather; Dale Colson for his continuing care, love and support during this difficult time; Whitey Brown, George Stewart and Tom Henry for their friendship, love and care; Rob, Amanda and Sophie Brooks for their love and kindness for many years; Dr. Alexander Patrick and staff for many years of care and compassion; the staff of Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home for never ending support and care; Hallmark Hospice for providing care, love and peace of mind to our family; David Armstrong, Anne Sloughter and Mary Manning for your kindness and always being there; and James "Jim" Cassidy and staff for your prayers and continued support
