Valjean Weaver Riddle, 75, beloved wife of the late Harold Riddle, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Born in Chelyan, WV, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Armentrout Weaver.
Valjean was born and raised in West Virginia, as a coal miner’s daughter. She was a hardworking woman who always had a positive attitude towards life. She was a loving mother to her children and adored spending time with her grandchildren. She was thrilled when she found out she was going to be a great grandmother and couldn’t wait to meet her newest family member.
Valjean had a few favorite pastimes, which included playing bingo, fishing, and spending quality time with her family. She had a passion for cooking and loved all kinds of food, with a particular fondness for corned beef and cabbage. Valjean was also an exceptional baker and had a talent for creating intricate and stunning cakes that would leave people in awe.
Valjean will be remembered as a kind and loving person who always put her family first. Her warmth and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by sons, William Riddle (Melissa) and John Riddle, Sr. (Amber); grandchildren, Troy Riddle, Valerie Wilkinson, Trenton, Cassidy, John Jr., Derrick, and Skylar Riddle, and Jonathan Dismuke; great granddaughter, Sadie Wilkinson; and sister, Helen Gaines.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Konduros; and a brother, JD Ellis.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
