Victor Robert Young

August 19, 1919 - December 14, 2008
Victor Robert Young, 89, husband of Irma A. Ludwig Young, died Sunday, December 14, 2008. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Victor R. Young, Sr. and Marie Dziekan Kolzer. Mr. Young was a retired chemist and of the Lutheran faith. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Normandy Invasion under General George S. Patton and then served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 21 years. Vic loved to garden and his rose bush garden was enjoyed by all at Haywood Estates. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 67 years, are a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Tom Pierson; a son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Paula Young of Simpsonville; seven granddaughters and one great grandson. Memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his son, Rob Young, 308 Parkside Drive, Simpsonville.
