Virginia Duncan Faulkner

February 8, 1919 - March 25, 2008
Virginia Duncan Faulkner, 89, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at NHC of Mauldin, after a brief illness. She was born in Sharon, SC, and was the daughter of the late John R. and Daisy Younge Duncan. She grew up in Sharon and attended Winthrop College. She moved to Greenville, SC, where she met and married her late husband, William C. Faulkner. Mrs. Faulkner was a homemaker and member of Reedy River Presbyterian Church and Second Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the community doing volunteer work. She was an avid bridge player and taught many young people in the community how to play. Surviving are three sons, William C. Faulkner of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James D. Faulkner and his wife, Brenda, of Greenville, J. Robert Faulkner of Hilton Head; six grandchildren, Kellie Critser and her husband, Michael, of Greenville, Zachary and Elizabeth Faulkner both of Hilton Head, Matthew Faulkner of Greenville, Jeremy and Sarah Faulkner both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two great grandchildren, Katie and Jack Critser. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. At Mrs. Faulkner's request private graveside services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
