Virginia Earlene Jenkins

Virginia E. Jenkins, 88, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Allen Bennett Hospital. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Hattie Freeman Tripp. Mrs. Jenkins was a retired nurse with Shriner's Hospital for Children and a member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church. She served in the United States Army during WWII as an Army Nurse. Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Waters Arnold and her husband, Robert, of Taylors; a son, Doug Jenkins and his wife, Susan, of Bradenton, FL; a granddaughter, Jennifer Arnold-Blamire and her husband, Larry, of Burbank, CA; a brother, Iber Tripp and his wife, Frances, of Simpsonville; and five nieces and one nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard D. Waters; second husband, Alvin E. Jenkins; two sisters and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of her daughter.
