Vivian Ruth O'Brien

April 26, 1919 - April 2, 2008
Vivian R. O'Brien, 88, widow of Robert Griffin O'Brien, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at NHC of Mauldin. Born in Mabscot, W.V., she was the daughter of the late Clyde Vance and Eudora Catalina Dockstader Dalton. Mrs. O'Brien was a homemaker and member of Brookwood Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Thompson and her husband, Bruce, of Laurel, MD, Alison Gianakas and her husband, John, of Greenville; two sons, Robert G. O'Brien, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Verona, NJ, David O'Brien and his wife, Dana, of Waterville, NY; grandchildren, Alison Heller and her husband, Jason, Ian O'Brien and his wife, Erica, Katey O'Brien, Christopher Gianakas, Danielle Gianakas, Lauren O'Brien, and Peter Thompson; and five great grandchildren, Max Heller, Peter Heller, Charles Heller, Dean O'Brien and Henry O'Brien. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Richard O'Brien. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookwood Church.
