Vivian Williamson, 92, beloved wife of the late James “Cotton” Williamson, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Caldwell, Sr.
Vivian’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, as she remained a lifelong member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church.
Vivian actively participated in the Greenville Women’s Bowling Association, both locally and at the state level. She also served for many years as the secretary of the Greenville Junior Bowling Association, demonstrating her dedication to her community and the sport she loved.
A remarkable woman in every sense, Vivian cherished her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her nurturing and kind heart left an indelible mark on her family, who will forever treasure her love and care.
Her love was boundless, extending to her faith, her family, and even her grand dogs. Vivian was a shining example of devotion and love that knew no bounds.
Her life was characterized by a strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and a commitment to family values. These qualities shaped her into the remarkable woman we all knew and loved.
She is survived by daughters, Micki Dellinger and Lynn White (David); granddaughters, Jenifer Ensley, Morgan Dorriety (Aaron), Victoria White (Jay Cox), great grandchildren, Kensley Smith, and Nolan, Jett, Sailor, Bowie, and Boston Dorriety; her best friend of many decades, Carolyn Nelms; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by twin sons; sisters, Lila Ruby Sloan, Thelma Louise Caldwell, Sarah Sybil Barnett, Willie Catherine Watson; and brothers, William Earl Caldwell, Jr., and Charles Parks Caldwell.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
