Wallace Hansel McCombs

Wallace Hansel McCombs, 80, of 13 Saco Street, Brandon Mill Community, exchanged this life for all the unspeakable joys of Heaven on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John David and Jeanie Gaybrella Howell McCombs.
Mr. McCombs enlisted in WWII in 1944 serving in the Navy aboard the USS Blessman as a Seaman First Class, serving in Okinawa, the Panama Canal and San Diego and was a retired supervisor of several Greenville Textiles Mills. He bore testimony to his family and friends that he was ready for Heaven and trusted in Christ as his own Savior! He was a member of Brandon United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his loving wife of over sixty years, Bobbie Jo Dover McCombs, a daughter, Jane Gail McCombs Gillespie of Marietta; two sisters, Bobbie Jo McCombs Hill, Martha Sue McCombs Cothran, both of Greenville; two grandchildren, Jonathan Edward Gillespie of Easley and James David Gillespie of Pickens. He was predeceased by two children, Wallace Hansel McCombs, Jr. and Wallace David McCombs; two sisters, Francis Aileen McCombs Smith, Jeanna Elizabeth McCombs Yearwood; and one brother, Johnny Abner McCombs, Sr.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
The funeral service will be Friday, October 31, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West.

The family will be at the residence.
