Walter Edward Sayers

Walter "Walt" E. Sayers, 90, of 204 S. Texas Avenue, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 after a brief illness. Born in Montgomery, AL, he was a son of the late Walter Levi Sayers and Minnie O'Hara Sayers and husband of sixty-three years to the late Earline Cunningham Sayers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Walt was an avid Clemson fan and retired from Union Carbide Kemet Company. He was a lifetime member of Brandon Baptist Church, the Joy Group and other social groups at the church. Surviving are a daughter, Jeannie S. Ferguson and husband Gary, of Travelers Rest; a son, Ed Sayers, of Central; two granddaughters, Regina F. Fowler of Travelers Rest, and Scottie Ferguson of Seneca; two great grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Fowler; and a special friend, Hazel Merrill. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 10, 2008 at 1:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 12 Noon – 1:15 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Brandon Baptist Church, 16 Calder Street, Greenville, SC 29611.
