Wash Richard Brown, 86, of 20 Meadors Drive, widower of Lonnie Othella Farmer Brown, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at St. Francis, Downtown. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Walker L. and Maggie Gilland Brown. Mr. Brown worked in the textile industry and was retired from Anderson Armored Car Service. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on December 23, 1945. He served campaigns in China, Central Burma, India and Burma and was decorated with the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Brown was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Glenn Driggers; two grandchildren, Nichole Parker and her husband, Tracy, and James R. Howard; and eight great grandchildren all of Savannah, GA; a sister, Lucille Brookshire of Easley; and a brother, Ira Brown of Gray Court. In addition to his parents and wife of 60 years, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jami Carter. Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
