Weston Gwathmey Bruner, 89, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Chevy Chase, MD, passed away while at home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Williamson Bruner.
Born on February 4, 1933 in Washington, DC, Wes was the son of the late Dr. Weston and Leah Smith Bruner, Jr.
Mr. Bruner was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, DC, Class of 1951. He received his BS from Dartmouth College in 1955, followed by a combined MS at the Tuck School of Business and Thayer of School of Engineering at Dartmouth. He retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation after many enjoyable years spent working as an electrical engineer in the aerospace and defense industries.
Mr. Bruner honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and was a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase, MD. He was also an avid bridge player, and was a longtime member of Columbia Country Club.
He leaves his adoring children, Elizabeth Bruner Hofmann and husband Maj. Matthew Hofmann of Conroe, TX and Dr. Terrence Weston Bruner and his wife Dr. Christine Bruner of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, John Weston Hofmann, William Connor Hofmann, Kathryn Leah Bruner, Anna Elizabeth Bruner, Caroline Weston Bruner; and a brother, Dr. Blackwell Smith Bruner.
A future memorial service will be held at All Saints Church in Chevy Chase, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Altar Guild at All Saints Church in memory of Wes and Libby Bruner.
