Wilbur C Jackson

Wilbur C. Jackson, 83, of 108 Lippazan Way, husband of Florence Jackson, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at St. Francis, Eastside. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles Wilbur and Marion McGuirk Jackson. Mr. Jackson was the retired owner of several service stations. He was a professional baseball player, playing short stop with the New York Giants and Washington Senators. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 10819 and past member of Council 1668. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Tuesday and Thursday Golf-Carolina Springs Senior League, was an avid golfer and baseball fan and was a United States Navy veteran having served during WWII. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gary and Diane Jackson of Nashville, TN and Charleston, SC, Brian and Lucia Jackson of Taylors, SC; two grandchildren, Kimberly Seccareccio and Jennifer Durbin both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two great grandchildren, Luca and Ella Seccareccio; and his constant canine companion and nurse, Cindi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concerned Citizens for Animals, PO Box 1332, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., #L, Anderson, SC 29621. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with the funeral Mass to follow at Noon at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
