Lt. Col. Wilbur Leland Morgan, USAF Ret., 88, of 604 Confederate Circle, Taylors, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 21, 2006. Born August 23, 1917 in Woodhull, NY, he was the son of the late Coral Irving and Esther Buckley Morgan and the widower of his loving wife, Ruth Benjamin Morgan. Wilbur served our country as a navigator in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1968 after serving 26 years. Mr. Morgan was of the Baptist faith. He was a man of principle who loved his family, his country and his Lord. He will be greatly missed by both family members and friends. Mr. Morgan is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Suzanne Beard and William of Linwood, NC, Bonnie Bixby and Robert of Bordeaux, France, and Donna Bixby and Stephen of Taylors; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Lee Morgan and Angela of Roswell, GA; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick Coral Morgan, one sister and two brothers. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home-Downtown. Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel with burial following in Graceland East Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
