William Furman Patterson, Sr

William Furman Patterson, Sr., 88, passed away September 14, 2007. Born June 11, 1919 in Iva, he was the son of the late Daniel Nathaniel Patterson and Anne Bell Sutherland Patterson. Mr. Patterson served his country during WWII in the National Guard/Navy. He retired from retail sales and attended Grace Baptist Church. He had a hobby of Genealogical Research, which evolved into full-time work. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, William ?Bill? Patterson, Jr. and Mary of Acworth, GA, Kenneth ?Gene? and Miriam Patterson of Greenville, Don and Charlene Patterson of Greenville, and Mark and Betty Patterson of Taylors; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Vince Selle and her mother, Ronia Patterson, all of Blue Ridge, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Marie Patterson of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law, Edna P. and Jewell Saxon of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Robert Patterson of Easley; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his wife Lylton H. Patterson, four sisters and two brothers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Missionaries through Grace Baptist International, PO Box 578, Powder Springs, GA 30127 or to the charity of one?s choice.
