William Lloyd Goodwin

William Lloyd Goodwin, 80, of 511 Don Drive, husband of Ruth Cleland Goodwin, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at his residence. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Henry Haskel and Lena Mayfield Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin was retired from Tires Incorporated, was of the Baptist faith and a United States Navy veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of the Wade Hampton Masonic Lodge #404, the Hejaz Shriners and the Royal Order of the Jesters. He served as a captain of the Shriners Hospital Guide Unit and past board of director member for Shriners Hospital. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 59 years, are four daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Pete Buchanan of Greenville, Ann and Bobby Hughes of Greenville, Susan and Gary Godfrey of Mauldin, Jeanne and John Farr of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren, David, Steve and Brian Hughes, Mandy Dorn, Lenda and Julie Jordan, Michael Godfrey, Shannon McBride, Matthew and Justin Williams; seven great grandchildren, Colby, Kayley, Kellett, Kinslee and Addison Hughes, Grace Godfrey and Charlotte Huntley; and two sisters, Rachel Bugh and Millwee Shelton. He was preceded in death by a son, William Lloyd Goodwin, Jr.; a sister, Mildred Trotter; and two brothers, James and Haskel Goodwin. Open Arms Hospice, 414-A Pettigru Street, Greenville, SC 29601. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 7, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens. In addition to his four sons-in-law, Pat Jenkins and Bobby Taylor will serve as pallbearers. His grandsons and great grandson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
