William "Billy" Patrick Griffin, formerly of Keowee Key, Salem, SC, died at Greenville Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, after a short illness. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late William J. and Ruth S. Griffin. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret Barrett-Griffin of Simpsonville, SC; devoted sisters, Diane Asbridge of Kingwood, TX, Laura Clamon of Dayton, TX and Ruthanne Petrowski of Pulaski, VA; six nephews; three nieces and three special friends, Myra Rushton of Seneca, Tonya Sweatt of Maudlin and Jack Thrasher of Seneca. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John, and his nephew, Christopher Schieni. At the time of his death, Mr. Griffin was a licensed electrician and retired maintenance manager from Engelhard Industries/BASF. He was a graduate of Ocean County College and Southern Wesleyan College. He was of the Catholic faith and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill will always be remembered as a caring, hard working individual with a great sense of humor. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Bountyland Road, Seneca. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory should be made to the Oconee County Humane Society or to the American Red Cross in Walhalla. The family will be at the residence in Simpsonville.

The very first day I met Bill he made me smile and put me at ease. It was his day off, and he just wanted to help out. That was the 1st day I started at Goodwill 7 years ago. Since that time we had become more than just associate. He had become my friend

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Bill will be missed, he knew how to make everyone feel special.

Just wanted to let you know how much we both thought of Billy and that we are thinking of you at this difficult time. He was such a kind person with a wonderful sense of humor. We will remember him very fondly.

I would just like to let all of Bill's family and friends know that my heart aches with yours. Bill was a big part of the Goodwill family, that we see more than our on families. He always had a good sprit and would always make your day when you seen him.

In your time of sorrow I just want to let you know I am thinking of your family. I have a lot of memories working with Bill here at Goodwill. He was a good man and I for one will miss him a lot.
