Willie Ruth Rhodes Jenkins

Willie Ruth Rhodes Jenkins, 88, widow of William Ellison Jenkins, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Magnolia Place. Born in Gray Court, she was the daughter of the late James Duncan and Izora Riddle Rhodes. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and was a member of Berea First Baptist Church. Early in her life, she played the piano and organ in the evangelistic meetings of her brother-in-law, the Reverend J. Harold Smith. She and her late husband visited many nursing homes where she played the piano and he sang to entertain the residents. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Hogan and her husband, Tony, of Simpsonville, Carolyn Kaisand of Spring, TX; a son, Ronald E. Jenkins and his wife, Manette, of Greenville; six grandchildren, Samantha Pittman, Brad Hogan, Tonya Jenkins, Ashley Stapleton, Courtney Kaisand, and Christopher Jenkins; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Stroud of Greenville. Memorials may be made to the Radio Bible Hour, PO Box 99, Newport, TN 37882. Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2006 from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Linda Hogan, 304 Shadowbrooke Court, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
